Sound is very important in the sense that if sound is used, it can and will affect the entire tone and mood of the clip and makes the audience feel a certain way towards a scene. In the first part of the clip when Mr. Soprano is waiting for the psychiatrist to call him into her room, he starts staring at the mannequin. The producer used no sound during this, which sets off a serious or more intimidating feeling. As the scene continued, suspenseful music was then used when Mr. Soprano started telling the story of when he passed out. This could cause the audience to become nervous for what's about to come next. Another sound that caught my attention was when Mr. Soprano was walking in his backyard and the sounds of birds chirping was used. This is an example of environmental sound and can be used to make a particular scene feel more realistic. Also, when Mr. Soprano was explaining what occurred the day he passed out, the audience is able to hear his story and watch the scene all at once. This is an example of a non-diegetic sound and any type of voiceover used is an effective way to help the audience understand the scene better. Lastly, I noticed a use of sound mixing while the girls and the mom were speaking. The audience was able to hear both the conversation they were having, as well as the music in the background. This allows viewers to hear multiple things at once.
