The video discussed how social media shapes people's identity and gave examples as to how that happens. Schultz explained that when people's identities are shaped and changed, half the time they don't even realize it. She talks about social media and how it can make you believe that you need to change yourself in order to fit in with everyone else. Also, Shultz mentioned how social media has "bubbles". An example that was given included marketing and if you are labeled an entrepreneur, that is what people know you as and not who you actually are outside of business.

Without a doubt social media has impacted me in numerous ways. First off, social media platforms such as Instagram and Tik Tok are always coming out with new "trends". Trends are what people find interesting or think is "in style", and they can last from a week up until a month. Almost everyone including myself will alter what they post in order to stick with the latest trends. People do this to catch other people's attention and get more views and likes on their post. Another way social media has impacted me is it's control over my view on things. Rumors and news are constantly being spread all over social media and depending on how the news is expressed by people, it can alter my own opinion on whatever is going on.

I strongly agree that social media does shape identity. I agree because not only have I noticed it changing people around me, but I have experienced a change in myself as well due to social media. Nowadays everyone thinks it is important to be famous and well-liked. This results in people changing who they are, the way they act, and how they do things. Also, the "bubbles" on social media play a huge role in how others perceive each other and sometimes people change themselves in order to fit into that "bubble".
