Critical Reflection Question 6

A Big Guy may be considered a record label in the music industry. Album labels are businesses that sell recorded music videos around the world. Universal Music Publishing Company is an example of one of the largest and most widely distributed record labels. Owning a slew of smaller labels and signing tens of thousands of well-known musicians like Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande. In the music industry, a Little Guy will be called an independent artist who creates, composes, and debates their own media. This is a much more difficult path to take, but it has been done by a few artists, including Ed Sheehan and the Weekend. Their revenue is primarily generated by streaming their product through various channels with the potential to reach a global audience.

To begin, record labels sign artists to create their goods. They'll need to employ manufacturers, composers, and distributors as a result of this. Since record labels own thousands of small businesses, it is simple to find people who can promote an artist. This can be accomplished by advertising and brand agreements. Producing a product for an individual artist is much more difficult and time consuming. Hours can be spent writing, composing, and distributing their music, which is more authentic and intimate. Social networking applications are one of their primary tools for marketing their product. There are also several musicians who have amassed a large enough fan base to make some connections.

The artists do not have to waste their own time distributing and writing their songs, which is one of the benefits of Big Guys in the music media industry. As a result, record labels are in control of this. One downside is that they take a large percentage of the revenue generated by your music and your voice. They can also dictate the vocabulary used in a song by an artist.
